Baby Beck's 1st (and hopefully last!) eviction notice

June 27 has come and gone. Before things get too out of control (a.k.a. the baby gets any bigger), the doctor is going to induce labor on Friday morning (July 2). We'll check in Thursday evening to get some things moving along, with Pitocin starting around 9 AM Friday. Happy thoughts and prayers for a quick and smooth labor. Stay tuned!

At 40 weeks, a car is born

We've made it to our due date...and Baby Beck has decided it's not time for his big debut. In our ongoing preparation for our little guy, we decided it was time for a new car. I love it and now we are really set to bring the baby home!

Photo shoot

Since Baby Beck has decided to stay put for a little longer, we were able to squeeze in an impromptu photo shoot, compliments of long-time family friend, Daryl (thank you Daryl!). We had a lot of fun - here are a few of my favorites.

Beck, the carpenter

Part of baby prep was the crib assembly. Beck did an excellent job, no "leftover" parts, and we're pretty confident it will hold up under the weight of the baby. The crib was a gift from my Mom and Tony - we love it! I would post pictures of the changing table/dresser assembly, but Beck did that while I was away one day, which was a nice surprise.

Good friends, afternoon tea and baby goodies

Still catching up with blog posts...I'm taking it way back to May 1. Heather and Sarah hosted a beautifl baby shower at a tea house in Yorba Linda. It was a wonderful celebration with close friends - I was surrounded by experience and wisdom as all of them are already mothers. Everyone brought a favorite book to share with Baby Beck, stocking his little library with stories we will read for the next few years - it was a special touch. Thank you, Sarah and Heather, for making the trip down to Southern California and for hosting friends to such a memorable afternoon. Thank you to my friends for spending the afternoon with me in honor of our little guy. I can't wait to introduce him to everyone!

Predictions

38 weeks, 4 days and counting...we had another growth scan yesterday to make sure the baby was on track (since my belly is measuring 2 weeks behind "schedule"). All is well in this cozy womb and the ultra sound tech estimates Baby Beck's weight as 7 lbs and counting. I can handle 7 lbs...let's hope he makes his appearance before he gets too much bigger! It's amazing that as far as medicine and science have come, doctors can't truly predict the exact date when a baby will make an entrance into the world. The anticipation is exciting...and I'm enjoying bad television and trashy romance novels while I wait.

Catching up on belly shots

It's been awhile since the last post, so there are a few things to catch up on. We'll start with belly shots - at 34 and 37 weeks. At about 34 weeks, my doctor said I was measuring 2 weeks "behind" and ordered an ultra sound to measure the baby. He measured just fine - right on track (estimated 5.4 pounds at the time). I suppose he's finding nooks and crannies to stretch his long Beck legs, while keeping his mother's figure in mind. Already a considerate child.
